Apostille of Private Documents in Cyprus – New requirements

The Ministry of Interior, by an internal circular dated 26 March 2024, has now requested that, for the purpose of ensuring the legality of the content of documents in relation to the restrictive measures or sanctions of the EU within the framework of the Common Foreign Policy and Security Policy, all private documents submitted by certifying officers for the purpose of certification by Apostille must be accompanied by a declaration confirming that none of the natural or legal persons mentioned in such document are subject to EU or UN sanctions. This is extended to the officers, shareholders and ultimate beneficial owners of any such legal persons.
